Short-term Mission Trips

Life Child provides short-term mission opportunities in South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi, and Zimbabwe. These trips allow volunteers to serve alongside local Life Child teams and churches, offering practical support while building meaningful relationships within the community.

Each mission trip is organised under the leadership of Life Child and local Life Churches, ensuring that all activities are ethical, sustainable, and responsive to real community needs.

Mission trips offer a powerful opportunity to serve with purpose, gain first-hand insight into our work, and support children and families in life-changing ways.

Where can you go, and what Life Child projects do we currently have:

Quelimane, Mozambique:

  • The Peace School serves children in Grades 1–6 and includes an agricultural farm to support sustainability.

  • The Okalawo Children’s Village provides residential foster homes and a primary school for children in Grades 1–4.

  • A medical clinic offers preventative healthcare and primary care services to the surrounding community.

  • To strengthen long-term sustainability, we have established a moringa farm and launched a sewing workshop and cohort.

Harare, Zimbabwe:

Life Child Zimbabwe works closely with vulnerable families, focusing on family strengthening and empowerment to help families stay together and provide safe, nurturing environments for their children.

Cape Town, South Africa:

Life Child operates in Philippi, where we run a Life Child Centre and two foster homes, providing safe, family-based care for children in need.

Mission trip activities are tailored to meet the current needs of each project and community. Activities may include:

  • Assisting in day-to-day activities with children

  • Supporting families and caregivers

  • Teaching and educational support
