Our History

Esvaldo and Annmaree Jorge (Mozambique) recognized the urgent need to support orphans and vulnerable children in Mozambique. They established schools to address spiritual and educational needs, alongside healthcare and skills training.

As Esvaldo and Annmaree Jorge developed the church in Mozambique, it became clear that there was a tremendous need to reach out to the huge number of orphan and vulnerable children present in their community. By using a holistic approach to ministry, schools were established where the lives of many children could be impacted spiritually and educationally. Health care and skills training, together with pastoral support, followed.

Jarvis Msonda, a student from Malawi, came to study at the Bible School at Life Church, Cape Town. He eventually returned to Malawi to plant a Life Church in Blantyre. Jarvis, together with his wife Catherine, just like Life Church Mozambique, also work holistically with children in their community and are impacting their surrounding community one life at a time. Jarvis Msonda from Malawi studied at the Bible School at Life Church, Cape Town. He returned home to plant Life Church in Blantyre, where he and his wife Catherine serve their community. Together they work holistically with children, impacting lives and bringing transformation one life at a time.

For the past six years, Edson and his wife, Talent Bengura, have been leading a new Life Church plant in Harare, Zimbabwe. During this time, a powerful community transformation has taken root through the launch of Life Child, bringing hope, care, and opportunity to vulnerable children and families. Through the pioneering work in South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Malawi, and the visionary leadership of Anthony Liebenberg, together with the support of Desiree Liebenberg, Life Child has been established as one of the ways to champion the social justice expression of Life Church in Africa. Life Child exists to reach orphaned and vulnerable children and restore communities for generational change. Its initiatives focus on building firm foundations in education, health, welfare, spiritual

development, and relationships, creating a platform for long-term community transformation.
