In the face of the current international pandemic, vulnerable children and families are among the most at risk. Unfortunately, many children are going hungry during this crisis.
Life Child is launching campaign hope2020 with the aim to aid the orphan and vulnerable children and their families that due to the international COVID 19 crisis are left with no support, food, and income.
What have we done so far to help orphan and vulnerable children during COVID 19 lockdown?
With your support so far we have been able to provide 76,719 meals benefiting 4259 people. We also have distributed 3192 educational packs to make sure children continue with their education at home during the lockdown.
In addition, we have:
- Educated vulnerable communities about COVID19
- Organized health workshops
- Provided vulnerable communities with hand sanitizers/hygiene products
- Provided additional support for our Life Child staff on the ground.

We believe that every child has the right to good nutrition and at Life Child, we believe that it is our responsibility but also our privilege to provide children with a daily nutritious meal. Not only does it contribute toward their general health and wellbeing, but it also enables them to learn, develop, and mature.

How are orphan and vulnerable children, and their families affected during the COVID 19 lockdown?
Due to the COVID19 outbreak, most educational facilities are still closed In South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi, and Zimbabwe. Life Child preschools and creches were one place where children would get free healthy and nutritious meals daily. For many of our children, the daily meal that Life Child provides is the only meal they receive.
As we are facing health concerns due to the virus together, at Life Child we have made sure that families and children have been educated on good hygiene practices as health and nutrition is one of the four key focus areas.
Additionally, this international crisis has caused other issues such as loss of employment for parents, difficulty in accessing education, food, and health care.
